Angela Alsobrooks resigned as Prince George’s County Executive on December 2, 2024, at 10 a.m., in preparation for her upcoming role as a U.S. Senator representing Maryland. She is set to be sworn into the Senate on January 3, 2025, becoming the first Black woman to serve as a U.S. Senator from Maryland.
Alsobrooks expressed gratitude to the county’s residents, stating, “Serving the residents of this County has been the honor of my lifetime, and I am deeply proud of all we have accomplished together.”
